WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif., September 2, 2003 — Lipomics Technologies Inc., a privately owned company that specializes in lipid metabolite research and analytical services, today announced two new products for metabolic research, Lipomics InsightTM and SignatureTM.
Lipomics InsightTM metabolic pathway maps assemble the results of TrueMass® lipid metabolite measurements, with SignatureTM flux equations, to generate an informative graphical representation of a lipid metabolism. An Insight map can be used, for example, to evaluate the metabolic effects of drug compounds or to establish the mechanism of unusual drug response. Insight pathway maps launched today include those representing lipid metabolism in plasma or serum, liver, adipose, muscle and heart tissue as well as maps for specific metabolic processes including lipogenesis and essential fatty acid metabolism.
SignatureTM equations use TrueMass® data to estimate the steady-state flux of lipid metabolites through key lipid metabolism pathways. Signature equations have been developed and empirically tested using the company’s extensive database experimental subjects and its institutional knowledge of lipid metabolism.
TrueMass® analysis, Lipomics core product, is a proprietary system for quantifying hundreds of lipid metabolites in biological sample.
InsightTM and SignatureTM products are available exclusively to Lipomics research alliance partners.
